| My research has included the surnames of Ortiz,Johns, Spann, Lee, Livingston and many other connected lines. The Ortiz line is interesting, My father Louis Ortiz was born in Mexico City, Mexico December 3, 1923. His father was Juan Vasquez. He was rumored to have died in a train accident in Mexico. My father did not know him. My Grandmother Mabel Ortiz was born in Barrow in Furness, England on July 30, 1901. Her parents were Selvino Ortiz born in 1877, he was a Mexican sailor who was also a naturalized British subject. He was an Engine Fitter Journeyman in barrow. Her mother was Ketrina Mabel Johns. She was born in Grange over sands , Lancashire in 1879. I was lucky enough to find those two in the 1901 british census that had recently been released. Her parents where John Bennet Johns born 1849 in Mylor Cornwall, England he died in 1889. Her mother, Sarah Johns was living with her daughter during the 1901 census which fortunanly gave her birthyear as 1841 and location being Hawkshead Lancashire. The Spann line has been the most abundant as far as information. There are way to many to list we are from the Spann line of Captain John Spann - to my Grandmother Annie Leta Spann-Lee-Johnson. There are many in between. My G Grandmother on this side was named Bama Risper Livingston her parents were Jeff Livingston and Susie Bell Campbell Livingston. Her brothers names were George and Velter and she had a sister named Nelee Livingston. My Lee relatives have been very difficult. I think there was a lack of communication between the Spann's and the Lee's even though they were related by marriage. My grandfather John Thomas Lee was born in Henry county Al.He was listed as 16 in the 1920 census and was residing with his father James Richard <Henry> Lee and Annie Elizabeth Jones Lee his mother and also a cousin Annie Mae Jones ;a cousin, she was 6 at the time. This is as far back as I can document with them. Except for maybe some Jones cousins. I hope that by making this web page it may connect me with many more distant cousins.
